Foot Passengers Traveling to High Alpine
Join family or friends who are on the mountain for lunch even if you don't ski or snowboard!
Simply enjoy a moderate walk to the Alpine Springs chairlift and load the lift as a foot passenger for an easy ride up to Gwyn's High Alpine restaurant. Downloading the lift is just as easy from the upper terminal. This is a winter trail, so dress warmly and wear snow boots.
Important: you must have a Day Foot Passenger ticket to ride the lift, obtainable from any Aspen Ski Company ticket office. Satellite images and a street map are below along with step-by-step insructions.
Detailed Instructions
1. Obtain Foot Pass lift ticket from Skiing Company ticket office.

2. Arrange transportation for drop-off and pickup at the intersection of Wood Road and Bridge Lane. Wood Road meets Brush Creek Road across from the gas station and winds its way up the middle of the ski area. At Bridge Lane, about one-half mile up, Wood Road crosses the Adams Avenue ski run not far from the lift. Note: this intersection is a drop-off/pickup location only; there is no parking.
Transportation can be arranged via local taxi. For one dollar ($1) per person you can be dropped off at Bridge Lane and for another dollar per person you can be picked up and taken back to the base. Call (970) 925-TAXI or (970) 925-8294 and allow 30 minutes lead time.
3. After being dropped off, signs will direct you to the lift. Proceed on foot up to the ski run on the right side, cross the bridge, walk uphill a short way and look for the sign directing you across the Adams Avenue ski run. Cross the ski run (please be sure to look up and avoid any skiers coming down!) and enter the trail into the woods. From there it is a mostly flat, beautiful walk through the trees to the Alpine Springs lift terminal. The total distance for the walk is about 500 yards.
4. At the lift, check in with the lift operator and they will give you instructions on how to load and unload the lift as a foot passenger. Enjoy a 10 minute ride to High Alpine.
5. After lunch, simply reverse the route to download the lift and proceed to Bridge Lane and Wood Road to be picked up.
Have a great day!
